These opportunities are with a well-established, privately-owned New Zealand contractor delivering heavy lift, special projects and complex construction packages across the renewables and infrastructure sectors.
The business is known for practical delivery, straightforward communication and a culture where people are trusted to take ownership, solve problems on the ground and keep commitments to clients.
About the Role
We are recruiting for two complementary Christchurch-based positions within the wind energy-focused division. Depending on your strengths, you could step into either:
- Wind Energy Contracts & Engineering Manager (senior, client-facing, commercial + technical leadership)
- Project Engineer (quality, documentation and project support across installation delivery)
Delivering Outcomes
Together, these roles form the commercial and delivery backbone of major wind energy projects. Success comes from close collaboration, shared ownership, and a clear line of sight from opportunity through to execution.
High-performing candidates will collectively:
- Secure and shape work
Translate early conversations, tenders and opportunities into clearly scoped, commercially sound contracts that can be confidently delivered. - Turn complexity into executable plans
Develop practical delivery strategies that integrate craneage, transport, engineering, site logistics and resourcing from day one. - Own outcomes end-to-end
From bid support and contract negotiation through to project execution, claims and close-out, ensuring commitments made are commitments kept. - Coordinate the wider business
Act as the connection point between internal teams, aligning plant availability, people, engineering input and site execution around project priorities. - Anticipate risk and solve problems early
Identify technical, logistical and contractual risks upfront, addressing them before they become delivery issues on site. - Build trusted client relationships
Be credible, practical and commercially astute at the table, creating confidence with clients, suppliers and partners throughout the project lifecycle. - Lift capability and capacity
Contribute to developing systems, processes and people that allow the business to scale through workload peaks while maintaining delivery quality. - Create momentum for what’s next
Support a sustainable pipeline by learning from each project, refining delivery models, and helping position the business for future opportunities.
We’re open to people who bring the core capability, even if your background isn’t exclusively wind.
- Engineering qualification (civil/structural/mechanical, or equivalent)
- Senior role: 5+ years across engineering, construction, contracts and/or project management
- Project Engineer role: 2+ years in construction/project environments with strong reporting skills
- Commercial confidence: estimating, tendering, contracts, variations and stakeholder management
- Strong documentation discipline (Excel proficiency and technical reporting essential)
- Practical understanding of construction methods, logistics and heavy plant environments
- Full NZ driver licence; able to pass pre-employment and random drug & alcohol testing
- Hands-on, delivery-first environment: practical, direct and collaborative
- Autonomy with support: you’ll be trusted to run with work and ask when needed
- Problem-solving on the hoof, without losing sight of contract, quality and safety
- Pride in reputation: professionalism with clients and high standards on site
- Christchurch-based head office role with strong project exposure
- Work at the sharp end of New Zealand’s renewable build pipeline
- Career acceleration: broaden into contracts, delivery leadership or commercial strategy
- Variety of work across wind, heavy lift, transport logistics and complex builds
