A pivotal part of this growth has been the Technical Manager role – originally created to support the founding leadership team and drive technical excellence. Now, as the company looks to the future, we are seeking a new Technical Manager to carry this momentum forward and continue shaping the Refspecs business at a strategic level.
The Role: Senior Technical Leadership
This is not a maintenance role. It is a leadership opportunity for someone who thrives on autonomy, strategic input, and translating market trends into actionable commercial outcomes.
As Technical Manager, you will:
- Own all technical leadership responsibilities across the business, from tender oversight to product scoping and solution design.
- Lead bespoke project delivery , advising clients and internal teams on complex refrigeration system requirements.
- Identify and drive new product development , in partnership with our trusted overseas OEM network.
- Mentor and upskill internal teams , building a robust technical knowledge base and lifting company-wide capability.
- Represent Refspecs at a senior level , engaging with suppliers, contractors, consultants and major clients.
About You
You’ll be a self-starter with deep industry knowledge and the confidence to lead. We appreciate that this is a role where the right candidate would be able to flourish, so are open to a wider range of experience; however you likely have (or aspire to grow yourself personally in):
- A technical background in commercial refrigeration, mechanical engineering, HVAC, or a related field (5+ years’ experience minimum).
- Exposure to natural refrigerants and a clear point of view on industry change and opportunities.
- A commercial mindset – able to link technical decisions to business growth and client value.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong orientation toward mentoring and client interaction.
- Experience with tendering processes and reviewing CAD/technical documentation (hands-on CAD work not required).
