Health & Safety Officer/Operations Assistant - Roofing Company

About the Company
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety Officer to join a thriving roofing company. There is also an Operations component to the role involving the oversight of residential roofing projects. Roof Auckland have a business model based on utilizing skilled roofing professionals on a sub contracted basis to reroof and repair roofs for residential and commercial clients. The company does not have their own offices and they use cloud based systems and processes to manage their business. The focus is on getting the job done and this role will involve being on the road constantly (Auckland only) with some home office content. A company vehicle will be provided and Industry and company specific training will be offered to the successful candidate.

About the Role
This role reports to the Managing Director and your purpose in life will be to manage all aspects of the H&S function across the company’s operations. This will specifically entail the management of documentation, training, checks and assessments to ensure the i’s are dotted and the t’s are crossed. H&S systems and processes will need to be formalised and specifically and consistently adhered to. A full position description is available to interested candidates. There will inevitably be ad hoc duties that will require flexibility and thinking on your feet to find solutions to issues as they arise. It is unlikely that any two days will be the same !

About You
Suitable candidates will ideally have a demonstrated background in a H&S role in organisations involved in the construction or building sector. Having some knowledge of the roofing industry will be a definite advantage. Fluent written and verbal communication skills are essential. You will need to have an eye for detail and be familiar with all aspects of H&S legislation and their implications. You will need to be flexible and adaptable and have the ability to deal with multiple projects/sites and have practical problem solving skills. An energetic, well organised and pro active approach will be essential to being successful in this role.
