Engagement Manager - Major Partnerships & Legacy Stewardship

Tearfund is one of New Zealand’s leading Christian aid and development organisations, partnering with communities around the world to tackle poverty, injustice, and exploitation.

They are seeking an experienced relationship manager to join their partnerships team in a newly shaped role focused on major donor engagement, partnership growth, and legacy stewardship.

This is a highly relational role suited to someone who enjoys building genuine long-term connections, communicating with authenticity and purpose, and helping supporters engage meaningfully with causes they care deeply about.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Partnerships Manager, you will be responsible for developing and growing relationships with major supporters, prospects, and legacy donors across New Zealand, helping to strengthen long-term supporter engagement and funding outcomes.

The role is primarily focused on strategic relationship management, building and deepening meaningful connections with supporters through personalised engagement, stewardship, and long-term donor cultivation, alongside a secondary focus on Gifts in Wills. You will also represent Tearfund at events, speaking engagements, and supporter gatherings, with domestic travel and occasional overseas travel to host major donors.

About you

You will bring proven experience in relationship management, fundraising, account management, sales, or a similar engagement-focused environment, along with the confidence and emotional intelligence to build trust with a wide range of people. You will have the confidence to engage one-on-one and to present to groups.

Tearfund’s mission states: “Motivated by Jesus, we encourage Kiwis to act for justice to relieve poverty among the world's most vulnerable people.” You will have strong personal alignment with this mission.

  • A genuinely supportive and collaborative team culture
  • Flexible, hybrid working arrangements
